The article posted by Tal Kopan outlines some of the new struggles that undocumented immigrants have to face now and days. A 17 year old undocumented immigrant girl was not allowed to get an abortion due to the Trump administration denying her access. "...get an abortion after the Trump administration denied her access to one (Kopan 1)". The author used a formal diction to explain the decision made by judge Tanya Chutkan. The minor is "to be transported by a guardian or attorney to an abortion provider to obtain state-mandated counseling and then to obtain the abortion (Kopan 2)". This scandal comes after officials wouldn't give the minor the transportation to the abortion. This after having parental consent and necessary funding. "While the teen had judicial permission, in the place of parental consent, and the funds to the get the abortion, the ACLU said, officials refused to transport her for the procedure or allow anyone else to do so ( Kopan 6)". The tone the author uses is somewhat of alarming. This because of the uncooperative behavior of the detention officials. The judge has also said "that if the administration failed to comply with the order, officials could be found in contempt of court (Kaplan 12)". The purpose of this article is to outline the struggles that some undocumented immigrants can face in a time when they are in need. This 17 year old is a modern example of struggles these undocumented immigrants can face.
