History:
CNN (Cable News Networks) was the worlds first 24 hour television news network. Initially started by famous Ted Turner he managed to turn an old run down failing Atlanta TV station into one of the first super stations. CNN experienced some problems in the first year of operations when it was starting to loose money. Ted Turner didn't stop as he saw this instead he kept investing and eventually bought a satellite news network which eliminated the main competitor ABC
Background:
After buying the satellite news network CNN became known for broadcasting live events around the world as they happened. This would allow CNN to beat their competitors and become globally know. It gained a lot of popularity with its live coverage of the Persian Gulf War in 1991. As cable television grew in popularity CNN grew as well with its well known "Live Coverage".
