Constant arguments of how and when policies of immigration should be imposed is a constant debate in our congress. In the past few days a series of programs protecting immigrants have been canceled including DACA, TPS. What this has done is cause turmoil in congress composed of split perspectives that now have the hard task of agreeing to one policy that would eventually solve the immigration "Problem". In this article Kopan uses formal diction to address the American public in the recent events that have been happening in congress, "Lawmakers are quick to bemoan the lack of forward motion on a fix for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy"(Kopan 2). Throughout this piece the author shows a type of concerned ton for the the lawmakers because it is seen that little to almost no progress has been made since the cancelation of these programs. "We presented Congress with a detailed proposal that should be supported by both parties as a fair compromise, one where nobody gets everything they want, but where our country gets the critical reforms it needs and must have, he said, even as his proposal was dismissed as dead on arrival by Democrats whose votes will ultimately be needed to pass any compromise"(Kopan 4). Without the agreement of both parties no agreement can be reached in order to solve the problem before them. The main purpose for this article is to show the true situations that is going in the congress because there are many sources reporting the same facts but with some inaccuracies making this article stand out from the rest appealing to ethos. This makes the article more credible to the public as well as more trustworthy. The author really portrays the true story in todays congress and for this reason this article is well structured with formal diction and a concerned tone. https://www.cnn.com/2018/02/01/politics/immigration-talks-groups-lack-progress/index.html
